Andy Howes - QEII Simulation - Program Lead
Andy joined the QEII Simulation Program in 2015 as the Program Lead.
His simulation career started in Kingston, Ontario in 2010 as the Head of Operations for the Kingston Resuscitation Institute, and then assisting with the build and development of Queen's Universities Clinical Simulation Centre and Program.
In 2014 he moved back to Halifax for a short term contract as Technical Advisor for Dalhousie Universitie School of Nursing's Simulation Program. From there he moved to Doha, Qatar as a Simulation Technologist at Sidra Medical and Research Center.
As a side project he runs a free online resource focused on healthcare simulation technologists - www.thesimtech.com.
 
Donna Warren - Sim Bay - Coordinator
Donna has been involved in simulation since 2007. She has been a Paramedic since 1996 and began working at the Halifax Infirmary Emergency Department in September of 1997. She currently practices as a Critical Care Paramedic. She has completed her Certificate in Adult Education through St. FX University in Antigonish, Nova Scotia has attended the Comprehensive Instructor Workshop at the Institute for Medical Simulation at Harvard, Boston Massachusetts. Donna and her emergency department team members also represented Dalhousie University at the CAEP Simulation Olympiad in Quebec City in June 2016. This was the first time Dalhousie competed in this competition - placing third overall.
 
Tanya Frail - Simulation Centre - Simulation Technician
Tanya has been working as a Registered Respiratory Therapist at the Nova Scotia Health Authority since 1994. She graduated from Dalhousie University with her Bachelor of Science in 1992 and obtained her diploma in Respiratory Therapy from the Victoria General Hospital School of Respiratory Therapy in 1994. She went on to become a Certified Respiratory Educator in June of 2012. She has worked as a Respiratory Therapist locally and internationally over the course of her career and in February of 2015 joined the Simulation Program as a Simulation Technician.
 
Liz Craig - Skills Centre - Coordinator
Originally from Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, Liz is a 2004 graduate of the BScN Program from Dalhousie University. She subsequently completed her PONP certification in 2006. Since that time, Liz has worked as an Operating Room nurse specializing in the field of cardiac surgery.
Liz is the new Coordinator of the Skills Centre, having recently joined the team in August, 2016. She is enjoying meeting new staff and learners, while being able to use her OR skills in the lab setting.
 
Jason Follett - Skills Centre - Simulation Technician
Jason has been an integral member of the Skills Centre since the first year of operation in 2008. He helps with the daily activities of the centre, and undertakes technical and administrative duties. His background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from Memorial University and a Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University. Working at the Skills Centre has become a passion for Jason; he appreciates the expertise and knowledge he has gained in the skills and simulation environment. He considers it a privilege to work alongside so many great staff and learners and helping to facilitate training that really makes a difference.
